NEWTON, MASS. (WHDH) — In a bizarre and jaw-dropping crash, a car ended up suspended on top of a tree Tuesday afternoon on Chestnut Street in Newton, causing major traffic disruptions in both directions.
Local residents were stunned.
“I heard a loud boom and thought my mom dropped something,” said Lucy Karyanis, who lives nearby. “Then she said, ‘There’s something crazy happening outside!’ I looked — and there was a car literally on top of a tree!”
According to police, a massive tree branch fell, and the SUV driver — who miraculously walked away unhurt along with a passenger — couldn’t stop in time, causing the unusual and headline-grabbing crash.
Emergency crews quickly arrived, working to remove the vehicle from the tree, drawing a crowd of onlookers.
This unbelievable Newton crash is still under investigation.
